Day 1

Mid afternoon pickup from your local area, we make the short journey to Hull for the overnight ferry crossing to Rotterdam.

Day 2

Morning arrival into Rotterdam, rejoin the coach to Volendam. Volendam has grown to become a tourist town with its pretty harbour and quaint shops.  The town is also known for the traditional costumes sometimes still worn by the locals.  Stop to see how the cheese and clogs are made and enjoy a free tasting of delicious traditional cheese. We continue onwards to the hotel in Alkmaar. After settling in, you will have some free time to explore the local area. Enjoy a canal-side walk into town (approx. 5-10 minutes) where you will find plenty of attractions including museums with unusual themes such as cheese, beer and even one dedicated to The Beatles, the biggest Beatles museum in the world!

Day 3

Today we experience some of The Netherland traditions; windmills, cheese and clogs. We begin at Zaanse Schans, a living museum with original buildings dating back to the mid-19th century. Explore the working windmills and see local traditional crafts being made. Onwards to Simonehoeve Cheese and Clog Farm. During the guided tour you will discover how cheese and clogs are made! In the shop you can have a go at walking on clogs, and taste the delicious cheeses. Treat yourself a pair of wooden shoes that can be engraved with your name and/or traditional decoration. Included in our visit is a cheese tasting competition. Can you guess when you are served nettle cheese, fenugreek cheese, smoked cheese and even beer cheese?

Day 4

After breakfast we check out of the hotel and visit the most beautiful spring garden in the world. Approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted at Keukenhof, with a variety of over 800 different tulips, developing into a spectacular flower display. Follow the trails to see beautiful ponds and pavilions with various restaurants and terraces. We depart Keukenhof late afternoon to Rotterdam for the overnight crossing to Hull.

Day 5

Morning arrival into Hull, rejoin the coach for the short journey to local areas.
